Westport Police say they took custody of Ronnie Manning on Sunday, Sept. 22.
According to police, a Westport EMS crew called in a complaint that a motorist was driving erratically in the area of Riverside Avenue near Treadwell Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 12 around 3:15 p.m.
The report stated that the driver stopped at multiple green lights for an extended period of time and was being passed by other motorists, police say.
Further investigation revealed that Manning was disoriented and that his vehicle was equipped with an ignition interlock device, indicating a prior arrest for operating under the influence, according to police.
Computer checks with the DMV revealed that Manning’s privilege to drive had been suspended, according to police. Manning was transported to the hospital for treatment, police say.
A search warrant seeking Manning’s toxicology report from his treatment was granted. When executed, records revealed that Manning was under the influence of multiple narcotic substances at the time of the incident, police say.
A warrant was prepared for Manning’s arrest, and on Sunday, Sept. 22, the Westport Police Department was contacted by officers with the Stamford Police Department stating that Manning was being held in their custody in connection with the active warrant, police say.
Manning was transported to Westport Police Department and formally charged with operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and operating a motor vehicle under suspension. Manning was unable to post his $15,000 court-set bond and was transported to Norwalk Superior Court for arraignment on Monday, Sept. 23.
